Harcourts Annual Conference and Awards Night

Harcourts Annual Conference and Awards Night

About This Project

Every year Harcourts trust Total Event to produce a theatrical live event to kick off their Annual Conference and Awards night. Total Event use performers, visual effects and technical design to make each spectacle bigger and better than the last, while expertly matching the theme and tone of the conference. The Awards night is a consistent highlight of the calendar year for Harcourts employees.

Harcourts are one of our long-term clients who consider Total Event as their event production partner of choice. We’ve proudly worked alongside Harcourts for the last 10 years and we’re the production agency for their NZ Annual Conference and Awards night, plus the Conference launch on Australia’s Gold Coast.

We provide the total package for Harcourts, bringing to life a 15 minute bespoke piece of theatre for the conference’s grand opening. From creation, design, script, storyboards, choreography and production, the talents of our international team are many and varied. And each year, we’re challenged to design a more inventive, creative and high-impact production than the year before.

Never say Total Event aren’t crowd-pleasers. In our quest to outdo ourselves year on year, we’ve recruited, amongst other things: magicians, hoop artists, aerial violinists, Midnight Youth, custom produced motion graphics and short films, Stan Walker plus hip hop crew, laser shows, a choir that turned into UV skeletons, and a little-known rock artist by the name of Jimmy Barnes and his live band. Oh, and Dave Dobbyn. With the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

This year, to surprise and delight the 1000-strong willing Harcourts audience, we managed to nudge the boat out a little further again.

Cyr wheel performers, aerial hoop artists, theatrical effects, contemporary dance and technical design all contributed to the bespoke sequence of performance art interwoven with interactive audio and visual media. The audience were invited on a visual journey that encapsulated the theme and tone of the three-day conference to come.

All this was achieved with the constraints of not being able to rehearse the show at the venue until immediately prior to the event! However, the whole team were absolutely professional and pulled off the show without a hitch.

As well as complete management of the opening show, Total Event also oversee two other key evening events during the conference – this year that included a fun superhero-themed networking night at the Rendezvous Hotel and a (slightly) more glamorous awards evening held at the Viaducts Event Centre.

We love the challenge of outdoing ourselves each year. Who can tell what next year’s event will entail?
